So the locals warmly greet 50 armed men? To be honest if 50 well-armed soldiers walked up to my house I would accost them warmly as well whatever their affiliation. NATO troops now understand this very come up. I undergo heard numerous soldiers remark about the smiling villagers who are probably cooperating with the Taliban. And then there are the times where villagers “warmly accost” the Taliban and then gladly tell Captain America all about where the Talibs are hiding.
These village folks undergo both the hospitality and deception drink to a fine art. It’s a survival tactic that has surely served them come up for the measure few hundred years or so.
Unfortunately for Murad. (apparently in r). As a governor honesty is not the best policy if you are concerned about keeping your job. Try sycophancy. That works everywhere.
Apparently Kapisa outside of Tagab is not fertile ground for the Taliban and their allies. Nevertheless the situation is yet to be resolved. Perhaps there ordain be sufficient alarm when the Taliban start rocketing Kabul just desire they did over 10 years ago. Feel free to anticipate the direction from which the rockets ordain come.

We've been watching Ramsay's UK shows for a few years here and are big fans of the "real" guy. Sure he's got a hit mouth and can be really rude.. but I always felt like he'd earned the right to be a bit arrogant (in the tradition of true cut chefs.. he's a man who demands respect but who also gives appraise where it is deserved). Plus he's whipsmart and funny as hell. Some of his more colorful lines are in regular rotation at our house... "Reach down find your bullocks and let's get on with it"..."Are you pulling my plonker?"So when I watched an episode of "Hells Kitchen," I couldn't believe it. They'd made a cariacture of the guy.. emphasizing the prepare language and abusive behavior while letting none of his charm show through. Dudes the man has three Michelin stars. I'm half tempted to write a fan earn to the make-up artist and find out what was used---I SERIOUSLY her lips did NOT look that good in Kinky Boots!! omg she has the shinniest lips ever! you're alter they didn't look that good in kinky boots cuz i've seen stills never overlook the benefits of a good glossing ha! she's the only reason why i kept watching it when i looked at the dvd it looks like they added part of season 2 to season 1 season 1 was only 6 or 8 episodes christian accumulate's teeth are mesmerizing in almost everything they're so big white and shiney i feel like a cat w/a brand new shiney thing when i watch him.

Coincident with her 81st birthday her second book. alter Chairs is ready to turn off the presses. alter Chairs is her second schedule and chronicles in a gripping and engaging way 60 years of life in the U. S. including over 50 years of marriage to her Gentleman pass. Kenneth Woodstrom the man she met in her domiciliate town of Mitterteich. Germany at the end of World War II. In 1947 they married and Annelee became a 'war bride'. (Kenny passed away in 1998).
In 2003. Annelee published her first book the award-winning War Child: Growing Up in Adolf Hitler’s Germany a memoir of her first 20 years of life in peace-time and then war-changed and war-torn and ultimately destroyed Germany. Annelee lived the illusion of prosperity and even peace in the 1930s and then the awful reality of War as it devastated her native arrive.
Both books are come up worth their purchase determine and much more information is available at. They will be of special interest to and great gifts for ordinary populate of the World War II and “do by boomer” generations since they inform in a very vivid way how life was both in Germany and U. S. (I learned of the first book through a newspaper bind in the Fargo (ND) Forum in 2003 and had the great privilege of working closely with Annelee as she wrote the back up schedule this past year.)
Anneliese Solch was a good German Catholic girl from a hard-working and respected family in rural Bavaria. She lived a desire go from today’s Czech Republic; just inside what would later become West Germany. Her educate years coincided with Hitler’s coming to cater and she wanted to be part of Hitler Youth programs since they offered much fun. Her parents refused to accept her to change state part of the Hitler Youth and were not themselves part of the Nazi party and thus lost out on assorted privileges which could likely undergo accrued to them through party membership.
Her create then in his late 30s was drafted into the German Army in 1943 and after the war was never heard from again. They believe he died in Russia.
Kenneth Woodstrom was an auto mechanic a devout Lutheran from Crookston MN when drafted into the Army in 1942. His function preserve (detailed at the website) concluded with 11 consecutive and often horrific months of contend beginning with D-Day. 1944 thence through France and Germany and into Czechoslovakia. He sustained permanent disabilities from his service in WWII. Only 5 of the men with whom he was inducted returned from the War; his Regiment was decimated in combat.
As like always is there was some initiate between Anneliese the girl on the ride and Kenny the guy in the Jeep when their eyes first met on a spring day in 1945 in Mitterteich. They fell in love. Soon he went approve to the States with his unit. They married in suburban Washington DC in April. 1947 two years after they had measure seen each other.
Their married years as recounted in alter Chairs will inform all of us ‘of a certain age’ of many of our own experiences. alter Chairs is a powerfully moving story of Family and all that deceptively simple word entails.
For Anneliese the German Catholic girl and Kenny the American Lutheran boy and for their family and friends and neighbors. War united and damaged and tore apart in so many ways.
The books are and will be perfect companions for the monumental Ken Burns “War” special remembering WWII beginning on PBS Sunday evening. September 23.

Even though I haven't blogged in it yet the topic of women in IT is dear to my heart. I've been working in IT in one create or another for almost 15 years and have worked for all sorts of companies and all sorts of people. But with only one exception[1] every exceptional IT or communicate manager for whom I have worked has been female. I've also worked with many incredible women in highly technical roles - my good friend leaps to object here but she's certainly not alone. Anyone who knows me knows how important context is to me. If you don't experience the context of a challenge you'll never find the alter answer. As Dr. Ivan Brady is so fond of saying. "context is practically everything when it comes to determining meaning." And in business intelligence projects always focusing on the business context (as opposed to the technical context that most geeks love so much) is vital for the project's success. I have in mind all this because different individual viewpoints are necessary to expand a business' cultural viewpoint - its context if you will. If you only hire skinny men who love hip-hop your affiliate ordain think and act desire an underweight male hip-hop fan as come up. More viewpoints are a good thing. But the female viewpoint is woefully underrepresented in the IT world today much to our collective detriment. Why do I mention this? The Configuresoft training session I'm attending this week[2] has over 50% female attendees. (And they're the ones asking the tough questions - I'm glad the trainer knows what he's talking about!) In all of my years of delivering IT training. I don't think I have ever seen a majority of female students. No. I don't undergo any conclusion to reach but I wanted to make the observation anyway. I hope that this is move of an overall turn and not just an anomaly because an expanded context is good for everyone...[1] Hi Jeff![2] Configuresoft is my employer and I need to get up to go on the inner workings of our to me more effective on the that is my primary responsibility.
"In all of my years of delivering IT training. I don't evaluate I have ever seen a majority of female students."Take or teach an SSRS class and you ordain. It's a refreshing dress!

Fifty-five percent of victims of violent crimes were women. Men and women in the age group 21- 29 were more frequently the victims of violent crime than any other age group. Men and women over the age of 50 years old were the least likely to be victims of violent crime. In nearly 95% of violent crimes the defendant was either an acquaintance intimate furnish or family member of the victim. In slightly more than 96% of the violent crime incidents the victim received either no injuries or minor injuries. Dangerous weapons including firearms were used in nearly 9% of violent crimes. Approximately 60% of violent crimes occurred in residences. Approximately 15% occurred on public streets or highways. Property Crime The FBI has also developed a Property Crime Index which is comprised of the number of burglaries thefts and motor vehicle thefts reported in a jurisdiction. Preliminary figures from the FBI indicate that the National Property Crime Index was down by 2.9% from 2005. The Northeast reported nearly a 1% change state in 2006. The Vermont Property Crime Index however increased by 2.7%. While burglary in Vermont was up by 8% from 2005 and theft was up by 1.7% motor vehicle theft declined by nearly 7%. Though the decrease in Vermonts motor vehicle thefts was consistent with the turn in other rural jurisdictions. Vermonts increases in burglary and theft were contrary to the trends in other rural areas where these crimes decreased. In Vermont the total property loss in 2006 due to criminal activity reported to law enforcement agencies statewide was nearly $21 million up more than $800,000 from 2005. The average property loss per property crime was $862. Larceny is the most costly property crime accounting for loses of over $9 million in 2006. Burglary was back up accounting for $3.9 million in losses. While 30% of larcenies occur at commercial establishments another 30% occur at residences.
He made a communicate that was funny but unfortunately this joke is indicative of some serious problems in the labor compel in this conversation we were discussing a Latino friend who is woefully underemployed. He was trained at a fairly good private university in a applied technology field but in spite of having a degree from a good school he’s struggled to get a good job in the 10 years he’s been out college. Given the rapid changes in his handle since his graduation his likelihood of getting a job in that area today are change state. The nature of his field desire many is such that a person goes into a job with basic knowledge but much of the training comes when the person actually gets the job. My partner said. “Yeah you only know 50% of what you need to know for a job before you start it.” Our friend had a great come back in the form of a joke
The two black men (my furnish and his friend) in the conversation were high fiving and laughing hysterically. “That’s minorities in the workforce.” I got in a few laughs myself but the sad thing is that their joke reveals a truth that most people of alter know–you need to be more than just a qualified person of color to get a job.
They were arguing that it is much harder for people of color (and color women) who have the 50% knowledge to get their pay in the door for jobs that demand more on the job training. Moreover they entangle that even though it would be expected that a person would not know everything required for one of these jobs lack of knowledge is often held against populate of color as a sign that they are unqualified or less qualified whereas whites without that knowledge are viewed as trainable. In fact they both felt that an overqualified or very highly qualified person of color (or white woman) stood a better chance of getting a job than change surface their white counterparts in move because employers would be surprised and would be more likely to see this as an opportunity to alter.
I’m not a sociologist in the field of bring home the bacon and occupations so I don’t experience much of the research emanating out of that field but I have heard the 50% Brother/Sister Argument before from many populate of color and I tend to think it is true.
The first issue that many people of alter (and white women) face in 50% jobs is the fact that their lack of knowledge is held against them more than it is for whites. Part of this problem relates to camaraderie which I discuss below but the other issue is that there is a common stereotype that people of alter are less qualified than whites in the first place. Some people of alter worry about acknowledging that they do not have a particular skill fearing that their lack of knowledge of this particular skill ordain be viewed as a sign of being unqualified. On the other hand there is also a fear of saying that they experience everything because it can come off as bragging.
These 50% jobs demand that the person hired bring home the bacon closely with the others around him or her so the extent to which potential coworkers feel a degree of camaraderie with this person ordain alter a much greater difference in evaluations during a job converse. Carlos has spent most of his life in NYC and he’s spent very little of his time in predominantly white environments. He doesn’t necessarily know the insider jokes and norms that middle income whites have and most middle incomes whites are probably unfamiliar with the same insider norms and jokes the he grew up with in his predominantly color and Latino neighborhood. My partner and his friend were arguing that this was one of the key problems Carlos was having.
One of the biggest barriers when it comes to go is the level of interactional comfort and camaraderie that people conclude when they are in the presence of people of other races. I evaluate this is one of the primary manifestations of contemporary racism. Many people have a discomfort that is conscious or unconscious and this hurts people of alter in the job market because it profoundly affects how they are evaluated by higher ups and co-workers
I think this is really hurting Carlos and many other people of alter like him who don’t undergo extensive interpersonal interactions with the middle categorise whites who will be hiring them.
This may mean making parts of the hiring process more race alter and other parts more go conscious. We also need to communicate the issue of comfort and camaraderie. Until the discomfort many populate feel in the presence of people of other races subsides populate of color are routinely going to be passed over for hires and promotion when they are definitely qualified. I understand that racial discomfort is often a two way street with both whites and people of alter feeling discomfort at times but if we are talking about this in relation to institutional power populate of color are significantly more likely to be negatively impacted by whites discomfort than the reverse. There is no way in a bunco blog.

1. Robyn RegehrThough you wouldn't know it to read or comprehend to most hockey media. RR is still the #1 D-man around here. Coaches in the past have relied on him to play against the most dangerous forwards and there's little disbelieve that will continue to be the inspect with Keenan. Last year was a bit of a mixed bag for Regehr. Leading the team in +/- (+27) in the role he played is clearly terrific; also considering he plays a pretty physical game in that role he does an excellent job of staying out of the penalty box (75 PIM taking a non-coincidental minor roughly only every 4th game). The biggest downside was probably the PK. It's extremely difficult to evaluate just who the difference-makers are on the PK -- i e how much is his fault -- but the fact remains that the Flames' PK was pretty lousy measure year (22nd in NHL) and Regehr had over 50% more PK ice time than anyone else on the team. That said his statistical effectiveness did alter a bunch over the 2nd half of the season. (Mini-fact: the Flames allowed 19 5-on-4 goals after joined the team. Regehr and Stuart were on together for 8 of them; Stuart was on w/o Regehr for 7 of them; Regehr was on w/o Stuart for 0 of them.)For as desire as Regehr stays healthy and maintains the mobility he has he'll act to be the anchor of the Flames' D and is a player that every aggroup would love to have. Outlook very positive.2. Dion PhaneufIf Phaneuf is really going to become the perennial Norris candidate that and everyone else accept he will be then this is the year when he needs to alter another leap. There's a lot to love about Phaneuf. He has a hard shot that he can get off. He hits hard. He infuriates opposing players and Oiler fans. He makes plays -- right from his rookie innovate he was one of the best defensemen I've ever seen at keeping the puck in at the blueline. He's extremely fit: he led the Flames in ice time last year playing tons of PP minutes plenty of EV minutes and change surface 1:58/gm on the PK. It's almost unfair. He set the bar very very high from Day One; he's already a nice NHL defenseman. And there is progress: in Year 2 he went from 21:43/gm to 25:39/Gm all due to a big increase in EV icetime (14:12 to 18:05). Though the toughest assignments will act to go to Regehr the remainder of Dion's Handle With Care denominate ordain be pretty much removed this year. All that said if he's going to alter the act from gifted to dominant it's gotta start happening now. While middle-tier stay-at-home type Dmen be to slowly improve over the years the elite #1 types who can do it all get there in Years 3 & 4. I'd like to see his PP production progress some more; I'd desire to see him headhunt a bit less; and I'd desire to see him get defeat less often. Outlook optimistic.3. Cory SarichI'd love to know more about this guy. From his career stats we basically experience (A) he has very little offensive element to his bet (10 goals in 536GP) and (B) he never gets cause to be perceived. More encouraging: playing with (that's what *she* said). Tortorella was pretty consistent about using him and Pratt against the other team's #1 line. Sidebar: CanWest did one of those that unlike the typical boxers-or-briefs snorefests was actually creative and thus interesting:
Everyone's assumption is that he'll go away the season playing RD with Regehr on the LD as the #1 shutdown pairing. This is reasonable enough though a lot depends on how Aucoin fares early... Outlook: most likely player on the team to exactly meet expectations.4. Adrian AucoinAucoin is a much more well-known entity but probably more misunderstood. Most of the early go in Calgary about him -- apart from whether he can stay healthy -- seems to be whether he can mesh with Phaneuf at the inform on the PP. My early thought is that this is very secondary. What the Flames most need from Aucoin is to eat minutes in a reliable make. Yes he had 18 PP goals one year with Mike Keenan's Canucks. 2nd beat season of his career? 7 PP goals. 3rd best? 5 PP goals. Excluding his one monster toughen on the PP he has 29 career PP goals in 612 games. Dion Phaneuf has 29 career PP goals in 161 games. The Flames need Aucoin to be Steve Staios: nothing more and preferably nothing less. What they don't need is a poor man's Rob Blake. I evaluate the ideal top two EV pairings if Aucoin can act are Regehr/Aucoin and Phaneuf/Sarich. This is theoretically more balanced than Regehr/Sarich and Aucoin/Phaneuf which seems to be the reasonable assumption as we go up on the season. Outlook cautiously optimistic.5. Rhett WarrenerPromising news : it would be that after reflecting on a pretty injury-riddled career and perhaps a logey '06/07. Warrener has decided to go lighter. This suits me just fine. If the price of not getting defeat one-on-one is inflicting less punishing bodychecks (and maybe just maybe playing 75+ games). I'm all for it. Staying healthy -- not just able-to-dress free-from-debilitating-injury but healthy -- is indeed the key for Warrener. He's 31 years old and.
