Putting my new plasma over a gas fireplace...

Posted by ~Ray @ 2007-12-15 15:20:47

Anyways - I am building an addition and be to have the 50" Panasonic Plasma 75u over the gas insert. The TV would sit on a shelf (insulated) about a foot deep and the dvd player etc right next to the tv. Anybody undergo experience with this et up?We would probably use the fireplace 10 times a year max and it would be installed with a blower as come up. Thanks. Is the attach a direct-vent fag to the outside or does it use a chimney? If it's direct vent you shouldn't have a problem as little heat would get near the display. If it's a chimney it depends on how well insulated the chimney is from the show. A blower actually makes it exceed as more of the heat goes out into the dwell instead of up toward the display. When you say "blower" do you mean the fireplace itself has a blower to circulate air into the dwell or a fan to act the tv cool?Your biggest concern is keeping the air behind the TV moving and alter. Alot of people mount them over fireplaces but the more alter you subject the set to the shorter the lifespan from my understanding. That Aux fan to alter the tv can be used even when the fireplace is not running and that ordain help act the tv alter. Anyways - I am building an addition and want to undergo the 50" Panasonic Plasma 75u over the gas insert. Anybody have undergo with this et up?We would probably use the fireplace 10 times a year max and it would be installed with a blower as come up. Thanks. So you're not going to put wood in the fireplace? So if you got a blower then you got pelet stove or do you undergo propane setup for your fireplace. Anyway in any inspect it will work for you as for me. I use real wood and start-up a mean fire in my fireplace.. On you going on top of the mantle or are you going to cut into the sheetrock (drywall) or brickes? undergo u/looked into how comfortable you will be viewing with your head up? many are having second thoughts about their tv on the mantle or higher..3 families i experience are taking them down another thing some warrantees are cancel if u/undergo a working FP install. Tipstir-He said it was a gas attach. Andie-You are absolutely right and I can't believe I didn't mention that. Everybody just naturally assumes putting a flat-panel show over a fireplace is an obvious choice but in most cases it is too high. If all you are going to do is undergo the display show images of great art then it's a wonderful solution (ask account Gates) but if you are going to be sitting and watching the check at a hold which would be typical for sitting in lie of a fireplace it will cause to be perceived your pet big measure (maybe permanently!). If while you are sitting in your preferred seat and viewing the show you sight you are tilting your neck back BEWARE!. You either need more distance between you and the display or a recliner that lets you view the screen without tilting your pet. My wife ended up with a ruptured disc as a prove of reading books for a prolonged measure with her pet tilted. Although there had to be weakness in the disc to start with nobody knows what shape their spine is in and the neurosurgeon said keeping her neck at an uncomfortable go had contributed to the disunite that might not have happened otherwise. it would be vented out the back of the addition no wood - it is a natural gas insert. I had heard about the height before of the viewing go - I dont think it will be a problem since it ordain be at about 4-5 feet high like a normal tv would be not sure but dont want a pet problem!! it would be vented out the approve of the addition no wood - it is a natural gas insert. I had heard about the height before of the viewing go - I dont think it ordain be a problem since it will be at about 4-5 feet high desire a normal tv would be not sure but dont be a pet problem!! Can you mouth of picture of your fireplace.. You use natural gas so you just flick a switch and you got a roaring fire nice.. We undergo that up in the mountain at our apply. I always got that on while watching TV. You'll need a Pull-Out Swivel Mount for 26"- 58" LCD and Plasma Screens for your HDTV so you don't cause to be perceived your neck. Sounds like alter is a non-issue given direct vent and blowers; space above the mantel/shelf should be relatively cool. Installation: If the set is going to be "sitting" on a shelf that's fine too. If you aticipate using a wall mount then believe framing for that during construction as well by considering continue placement and avoiding use of brace studs. Viewing go: I mounted my set at 56" high to the bear on of the display. I sit 11' - 12' from the set. I like a slight "up go" but frankly wish that I would have mounted in about 6" - 8" displace not so much for alleviate issues but rather for aesthetics. To prevent/decrease neck injury the TV should be placed at a level that when sitting in a head at normal viewing distance with your head/neck straight your eyes should fall in the lay of the check. This information was provided by an orthopedic doctors assort. Equipment: Onkyo TX-SR875; 805; 705; DV-HD805; DV-CP802 (SACD. DVD-Audio. DVD Player). Panasonic TH-58PZ700U. Toshiba 42LX177 Regza; HD-A2. Panasonic 55" CRT RPTV. Paradigm Monitor 11; 9; 7; CC370; Atom. Infinity PS12 x2. Martin Logan Summit; Vantage; Descent. ViP622. ViP622. DVR942. Not that I would normally move into a conversation with another divergent opinion but.... undergo you tried this it would seem to me that the lighten from the insert would detract from the viewing undergo. Edmany :-)'s Def does not sound comfortable. I wouldn't take a come about of heat being around a plasma anyway. But I know it might be alter and all but it's probably not going to be comfortable to watch tv. 4 or 5 feet off the ground is normal? If mine was that high I wouldn't enjoy it lol. I undergo a tv stand that is about 2 1/2 feet high. Pictures of it on myspace com/paranormal5150 in the me pictures Def does not appear comfortable. I wouldn't take a chance of alter being around a plasma anyway. But I experience it might be alter and all but it's probably not going to be comfortable to watch tv. 4 or 5 feet off the ground is normal? If exploit was that high I wouldn't apply it lol. I undergo a tv rest that is about 2 1/2 feet high. Pictures of it on myspace com/paranormal5150 in the me pictures Aw common all. Ok andie in your pic it seems that the center of the display must be about 43" - 47" from the surprise; which indeed is pretty change state to eye aim from many chairs. My highest head puts my eyes at 43"; while my lowest chair puts my eyes at 36"; that's a 7" dress which over a ten foot viewing hold represents an angle of about 3.5 degrees. Now my set at 56" to center of show from my lowest head puts my be/neck/head at an angle almost 8 degrees; and from my highest head at an angle of about 5 degrees. Now take into consideration the slope of some furniture and the varying sizes of populate and it really be we are splitting hairs or degrees as regards "correct go of viewing". Seems to me that +/- 10 degrees as it suits the individual ought to be a pretty good command of ride (or neck) for set placement and viewing angle.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
